January 19, 2002	This is exciting. I made a java program for running queries against the Ellis Island website database. Download the java file here, read the comments on how to compile and run it, and try it out for yourself. You can save the results to a tab delimited format for manipulating in EXCEL, or else save them as an HTML TABLE. See an example here, and if you want me to run a query for you, let me know. If you run it yourself, you need to have a Java compiler, like the one in the Sun Java SDK.
